If you got or plan or getting oscars obviously Feeding is an important issue.
The bottom line is Oscars will eat anything they can fit in their mouth! It's your job as their keeper to make sure they get the right diet. I wish there was a formula I could write down here but there's not.Every oscar eats differently. If your oscars always hungry, feed it more. If theres food left over and it makes the tank dirty, feed less. It's actually pretty simple once you figure out your fish.
Some things we feed our oscars are :
- beef heart
- fish pellets (I endorse no brand,no free advertiseing here)
- cichlid sticks (pick your own brand)
- Brine shrimp for smaller and baby oscars
- Shrimp
- Crab (real or immitation) - uncooked real crab is the best
- Fish Fillets (cut into small peices)
- Tubiflex worms for smaller and baby oscars
- guppies (I bred my own to make sure they're clean)
- Goldfish (but there are parasite issues involved with them)
- peas
- brine shrimp flakes for smaller oscars
- glass worms for small oscars
- Superworms (zoophobias)
- And a few other frozen fish foods
- ** any time meat or seafood is used raw is prefered**
I don't feed all this every week I use this stuff to vary their diet
The Only foods I AVOID are greasy things, before you give your oscar last nights left overs, use your head
